Bible Gateway

Today's Bible quote from Bible Gateway...

Romans 8:28-30 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
Public Domain
28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Do you know what the scriptures say your Gateway is into the Kingdom of God?

Ok dorko, got a question for you. the King James Version, isn't that like the version the King of England put out after cutting out all the bible parts he didn't like? Do they have any versions of the bible avaliable that have all the origional stuff in them or are they all expunged in some way?

Aza - great question... you can go there and snoop around if you want.
The King James Version is Public Domain where as other translations may not be.
I didn't see the Septuagint version (O.T.;I don't read Greek anyway), or the Aprocrypha, or (Hebrew) versions of the Talmud, or the Masoretic text, (which was an 'alteration' that preceeded KJV by more than 'a few' centuries.) The KJV follows the Masoretic text except in a very few passages.
My church recognizes that authors do not always take pains to quote correctly.
Their position (the same position I've come to, btw...) rearding the Bible is that it contains the word of God as far as it is translated correctly and we understand that, "many important points touching the salvation of men, [have] been taken from the Bible or lost before it was complied." ...also, that "ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors." (HC 1:245;6:57.) However the Church reveres and respects the Bible, but recognizes that it is not a complete nor entirely accurate record, and affirms also that the Lord has given additional revelation through his prophets in the last days that sustains, supports, and verifies the biblical account of God's dealings with mankind.
My KJV includes a Bible Dictionary which devotes 4 pages to the divine library, from name, to structure, preservation, & a detail of the historic translations. (facinating to see history playing out the classic battle of evil in opposition to good, & the men & women who were tinkering on either side of that.)
Thank you Aza for reminding me that ...For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required... (Luke 12:48) and from D&C 88:118 - "And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith."
Now... off to school for me! :D
