This artist works in plastic - constructs human beings in silica...
If you find this as facinating as I did you might google the name "Ron Mueck"
There's more information and a few more pix on the internet
- (albeit most images have a air of melancholy to them)

the link you sent me with a bunch of those was so dang awesome!!!!!
Butterfly's - I know it! I was blown away by the "realism"
Burfica - The picture of him working on a figure in his studio... I just thought, "my golly, if I was a theif and didn't know what place I was breaking into and I saw THAT kind of thing laid out on the workbench, cranky!, that would cure me of breaking and entering EVER again!"
The picture I posted is supposed to be the artist's 'self-portrait'...=)
I went with my daughter to the Museum in Ottawa a while back and there was a giant baby head... the detail was amazing, you could see veins in the skin. That slide show link was fantastic! Thanks for sharing that!
Amazing, but also a little freaky! lol

That's eerily cool.
It's so realistic, it's a bit creepy. WOW.
Anndi - Thanks for stopping by! Yes, I liked the slide show too - with the bi-lines under to narrate the sceens.
Nwjr & ~c~ - My reaction too, way cool with bits of creepy!
